ZUHAIR MURAD HYMNE AU DESERT COUTURE COLLECTION SPRING SUMMER 2011

Inspired by Thin Hinane, the beautiful berbère who founded the Touareg tribe when fleeing the Roman occupation towards the Hoggar, Zuhair Murad illustrates in this collection all the desert vocabulary. The lines of dunes are transcribed in voluptuous drapes, and the palm groves in metallic embroideries. Silk fringes animate short dresses with contemporary transparent kaftans displaying the harmattan of Hoggar. Inspired by African drawings, capes, veils and embroideries become a symphony of vaporous textures, varying between Charmeuse and chiffon, lace and silk. The pantone is in the shades of sand, gold and beige, indigo and green translating the dried oasis dream colours.

Masai collars and tribal designs cascade on the chest and enroll the waist bringing a barbarian touch to the silhouettes. In transparent leopard and cobra chiffon lace, the dresses are assimilated to rebel women. The black underline the immovable silhouettes wavering in the heat and the wind. With this strong and rigorously geometric collection and behind the craftsmanship and Couture.
